Accton, Inventec Gain Certification for Skype-enabled Phones
September 28, 2006
Taiwanese Accton and Inventec recently announced that they have obtained Skype's Gold Code Certifications for their Skype Wi-Fi mobile phones, which they have started mass production in August but have failed to ship due to lack of the certification. Accton is planning to ship 40,000 Skype Wi-Fi mobile phones per month under the Edge-core and SMC brand, aimed at the small office, home office and the enterprise markets, while Inventec will sell these models through US network equipment vendor Netgear, with an expected monthly capacity of 10,000 units.
